Feudal Japan: The Shogunate Environment Design

Although the competition has ended, I wanted to try following the brief of Art stations Feudal Japan: The Shogunate
Environment Design from Sep -Oct 2018.
Environment Design Brief:
'In this Challenge you will create two (2) environments that fit within the theme of Feudal Japan (1185-1603). For each environment design you will also produce a callout sheet containing elements that make up the final rendered environment.'

The Second Environment for this brief, I wanted to create an atmospheric piece based at sunrise, instead of a dark gritty theme which I feel is more commonly used. I wanted the piece to give the idea of serenity and peace.

The first Environment, this piece is based on the story of the 'Ao nyōbō' which translates to the Blue lady. This is a demon who was previously a lady of the court or a high ranking lady, though their lives were wasted waiting on their lords.
